I decided to make Frankies Spuntino tomato sauce today. It was a simple but time consuming recipe (4 hours simmer time!). It was worth it, though. The long cook time turned some acidic canned tomatoes into a delicious rich sauce that can be used in a variety of dishes. I used the sauce today to make a pitza (pita pizza). I added mushrooms, anchovies, and mozarella cheese. Pretty tasty.
