Sunday (hers): Oscar Fare
I decided to finish my refried beans and make another chicken burrito. Once I made it, I didn't want it anymore, though! I ended up having half, but am sure I will enjoy the other half later. I also blanched some chinese broccoli and ate it with a fish sauce-lemon dip, in the style of my mom. She boils some type of green veggie every morning and brings it to work, and when I'm home, she leaves some behind and I eat it.

Saturday (his): Lunch and Dinner
Lunch was this yummy corndog from the Lunchbox with Dijon mustard and Sriracha sauce, and some sweet tea. Beautiful day, high seventies by noon. We'll have to try this spot next time you visit. They have other good lunch items.
Dinner. Still feeling indulgent and lazy, so I decided to get a protein and caffeine boost at Buddha Belly. They have a pretty good Hamburger. The fries are okay. Working always makes me feel lazy (even lazier) about cooking. Rather than foraging, at least I had a decent meal.
Addendum: Late night snack was the last of the Butternut Pecan ice cream and last piece of cold fried chicken.
Saturday (hers): Frankies Shaved Brussel Sprouts
I tried the shaved brussel sprouts with lemon and castelrosso cheese the last time I ate at Frankies, and was determined to try making it at home myself. Luckily, the recipe could be easily found online. I love Frankies so much that I probably should buy the recipe book soon. This is a wonderful and easy salad recipe. If I ever entertain and have friends, I will definitely make it. You simply shave the brussel sprouts and toss them with a 1/2 lemon, 1/2 olive oil (plus a little salt) dressing. I didn't have castelrosso, but since it kind of tastes like feta (the waitress at Frankies described castelrosso as "like feta"), I just used that instead. Yum!

Friday (hers): Almost a complete viet meal

Thursday (his): Chicken Fried Rice
Or should I say fried chicken fried rice? The good things about Publix fried chicken is (1) it tastes good cold and (2) I can make fried rice with it. 1 and 2 both happened today.
Thursday (hers): Free Food
Today I ate the free food at work for dinner. I ate "soul rolls" (soul food inspired egg roll things), cheese, chips and mango salsa, fruit, a canoli things, and a bunch of other random stuff. I even spilled a cup of lemonade on the floor. No pic (unfortunately) cuz I was eating on the run and full of shame.
Wednesday (hers): Repeat
Wednesday (his): fried chicken, rice, salad
Not quite homemade, but at least it was home-eaten? Fried chicken from Publix with rice and salad. I bought some Anne's Goddess dressing from Ward's, so that made the salad better. Also had a Magic Hat beer. Luxurious life I live, I know.

Tuesday (his): Gyros Plus
Can't say I was proud of this dinner decision, but it was another busy Tuesday and I needed to eat something fast before workshop. The gyro was pretty good, but overpriced and not as good as the Amy's gyro sandwich in Madison. Beggars can't be choosers.
Monday (his): Boca Fiesta Burrito for One
I suppose it is only appropriate that my first dinner on the day you leave is this sad steak burrito from Boca Fiesta, which we went to for lunch on a bright and sunny Saturday. This time around I dined alone and it was nighttime. The service Monday night was bad too, to make it worse.

Tuesday (hers): Burrito
I went to the market and purchased these "wheat and made with Extra virgin olive oil" tortillas. Blasphemy, I know! Well I think they were so unlike real tortillas that they had to call them "wraps." They actually tasted pretty good, though, and only had 90 calories and three grams of fat. I added delicious goya brand refried beans (really excellent flavor!), cheddar cheese, chicken breast, green onions, sour cream, and tapatillo. Pretty good and very easy.

Wednesday (hers): baked (aka microwaved) potato
Wednesday (his): Ropa Arepa and Rice with Lentils
Cheap and good arepa and lentils. Not as good as that arepa I had in San Jose once, but pretty good. Finished and mailed my internship application, crashed for a couple of hours, woke of starving because I hadn't eaten much most of the day, and went to this Cuban joint nearby, then coffee and work after ward.
Tuesday (his): Grilled Turkey and Cheddar, Orange, and Triscuits
Another sad and hurried dinner. I blame it on my crazy Tuesday schedule. I should buy Triscuits more often for they are good.

Monday (hers): No heart-shaped pizza
I decided to save money and my waistline by NOT ordering the papa John's heart shaped pizza for valentine's day. I had a fantasy or ordering the pizza and answering the door in my sweats with tears running down my face, but the practical side of me said "don't do it." Instead I picked up some romaine lettuce (kinda pricey) and made a caesar salad. I made some croutons out of the remainder of my french baguette from several days ago. It was delicious. Since I was still a little hungry, I made some simple corn tortilla quesadillas and ate them with sour cream and tapatillo.
Monday (His): Pizza
There's been a spike in pizza consumption around these parts. I wonder what the factors contributing to this new trend are? That's CVS 2/10 DiGiorno's pizza plus some Valentine's Nerd ropes and a box of Sweet Tarts for Her. "He" was a bad boyfriend and didn't send her a Valentine's card, but promises to make it up as much as he can.

Sunday (His): Steak Redux
Steak for one definitely is not as fun, but it's still pretty good. Last night I slightly undercooked the steak, tonight I slightly overcooked it, and given a preference, I'd choose slightly undercooked. It's 10:30 now, which means I should have plenty of energy now to write into the night. The microwave bell just went off--that's my coffee!

Friday (hers): Spring rolls again
I will share a shameful story. I had a huge lunch of boiled eggs, rice, and gio at work today, but decided to eat a tuna sandwich (free leftovers from an event at work) anyways just so I wouldn't be hungry for dinner and wouldn't have to worry about cooking! What has become of me? Anyways, I felt dirty for doing that so I decided to use my leftover veggies to do spring rolls again. The nuoc mam turned out superb. Sometimes you get it just right.

Thursday (hers): Baked potato
I'm not sure how I forgot to take a pic of my dinner, but I did. I microwaved two russett potatoes and topped them with butter, cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, sour cream, and green onions. I bought all the ingredients for egg thing, but wasn't in the mood to eat it. I have a feeling that it will appear this weekend, however.

Wednesday (his): Pizza!
Today began with a McDonald's sausage egg mcmuffin with coffee (I'm a little mad you get charged extra for coffee now) and ended with a Tombstone supreme pizza with Miller Light. Not the healthiest of days, but my body did not want for calories.

Tuesday (hers): Steak
Tuesday (his): Catfish and rice
Back to form, eating on the fly, and running to class. Tonight's dinner was white rice and catfish (cooked Viet style by my mom). Simple. Regularly daily postings promised from now on!

Monday (hers): Homemade Vietnamese Sandwich
My new year's package inspired me to buy a crusty french baguette today and make a vietnamese sandwich. My mom sent me pate, cow cheese, and gio, all of which are delicious to eat with french bread. I pickled my own carrots to go with the sandwich and they really made a huge difference. The sandwich was very delicious!

Saturday (hers): Pitza Party
I decided to make Frankies Spuntino tomato sauce today. It was a simple but time consuming recipe (4 hours simmer time!). It was worth it, though. The long cook time turned some acidic canned tomatoes into a delicious rich sauce that can be used in a variety of dishes. I used the sauce today to make a pitza (pita pizza). I added mushrooms, anchovies, and mozarella cheese. Pretty tasty.

Friday (his): Happy New Year from Orlando
A Vietastic spread in celebration of Lunar New Year! Egg rolls (with shrimp), jumbo shrimp, chau, two different kinds of banh (I can't remember their names, I'm terrible), chicken salad, and more. The men folk sat at one table and the women folk sat at a different one. So Viet! The men, who you can't see here, kept on passing around the Cognac or whatever and kept cheering. Chuc Mung Nam Moi.
Thursday (his): Oops!
Forgot to take a picture of my dinner, which was basically bun with chicken (leftovers) and a bunch of herbs. Made by my mom. It made me miss your version because you make it so well. I think I took a picture, actually, but I forgot my memory card in my laptop. Haha.

Thursday (hers): Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
I decided to get off at the East Broadway stop on the way home from work today because I suspected it would get me close to chinatown. Why? Because everyone at that stop is always chinese. Since it was the start of the new year, I took the plunge. To my delight, I found that there is a good looking boba place right near the subway entrance. There are also numerous little markets that sell fruit and dried food. Unfortunately none of the stores sold meat or seafood or very many vegetables for that matter. BUT, it was good to know that boba, fresh roasted pork, fresh asian pastries, and fruit are on my subway line.
I had spring rolls for dinner because I felt like I needed to eat something asian. I was going to do egg rolls, but got too lazy. This was pretty tasty and healthy! Good way to start the new year.
Wednesday (his): Mi Thap Cam at Taste of Saigon
Parents rolled into town today. Made the most of both the rented car and my dad's wallet by driving to the further northwest side of Gainesville for Vietnamese food at this restaurant that I heard was the best for Vietnamese food in town. (Note: there are just three Vietnamese restaurants in town and at least one of them is absolutely terrible.) I had the Mi Thap Cam. It was pretty good. The meat was so so, but the broth was good. My mom and dad had a lot more complaints, however, about their respective dishes. But then again, they always have something to say when it comes to Viet food. My mom did that thing where she spoke to the waitress in Vietnamese. It was clear that the waitress did not know Vietnamese. I believe we left a $3.70 tip. Cheap Asians. So typical!
